Basic Elements : |
|
The Modular Display System consists of two
basic elements-the node & the tube. A number of different
models are available depending on criteria, such as load burden,
design, place & cost, etc.
The node has 18 squares to create 18
threaded holes for practical use.
Therefore, 45o, 60o,
90o, 135o & 180o
can be achieved.
|
|
Measurement of Tube Length : |
|
The tubes have
threaded ends on both side to introduce tensile or forces into the
nodes. The length of tube is designated by the standard measure from
node axis to node axis. |
|
|
Tube
Length : |
The length of
tubes increase in geometrical progression by the factor 2, i.e. |
|
250mm x √2 = 353mm |
353mm x √2 = 500mm |
500mm x √2 = 707mm |
707mm x
√2 = 1000mm |
1000mm x
√2 = 1414mm |
1414mm x
√2 = 2000mm |
|
|
|
|
By following the
rule, a wide variety of tube length can be obtained, In this way,
custom-made tube length are available without difficulty to meet any
designing needs. |
|
Take the cube
for example, the angles of the node axes to each other are the same as
the angles of the plane diagonals i.e. 45o, 60o,
90o. |

Counting Method of Space Frame Tubes
& Nodes Required : |
|
1. |
Due
to the structure of space frame are 3 dimension, how to count the
necessary materials (tubes & nodes), some time confuse the
designer. so there is a simple way to count how many materials (tubes
& nodes) you needed. |
2. |
Usually,
the top area is not equal to the bottom, so take the larger one as the
counting base. |
|
|
A. |
Counting method while the tubes length are equal
(see figure 1) |
|
A=6
B=3 |
|
Volume of Node : |
|
2xAxB+(A+B+1)=2x6x3+(6+3+1)=46pcs |
|
Volume of Tube : |
|
8xAxB=8x6x3=144pcs |
|
|
B. |
Counting method while the tubes length are not
equal (see figure 2) |
|
A=5
B=3 |
|
Volume of Node : |
|
2xAxB+(A+B+1)=2x5x3+(5+3+1)=39pcs |
|
Volume of Long Tube : |
|
Ax(B+1)=5x(3+1)=20pcs
Bx(A-1)=3x(5-1)=12pcs
Total :32pcs |
|
Volume of Short Tube : |
|
AxBx4=5x3x4=60pcs
Ax(B-1)=5x(3-1)=10pcs
Bx(A+1)=3x(5+1)=18pcs
Total : 88pcs |
|
|
* Remarks
: Bold line as long tube, thin line as short tube. |
